The Nebraska Department of Transportation’s Division of Aeronautics is excited to announce it is accepting submissions for the 2024 Aviation Art Contest. This year’s theme “Air Sports for a Peaceful World” is about the power sports have to bring people together to promote positive relationships that cross borders and unite people through common interests to create friendships and show kindness and respect.

Sports promote universal values such as unity and fair play, which extend far beyond the boundaries of a field, court or even an airfield. Air sports – aerobatics, air racing, ballooning, drone racing, gliding and parachuting, just to name a few – also have the power to bring people together. By showing kindness and respect to the people we meet, we can learn to see beyond differences and actively work to overcome difficulties and conflicts.

It’s time to grab your brushes and pencils to use your imagination to show how pilots, skydivers, astronauts and other air sports participants show kindness and respect to become friends. Let’s unite through art and air sports and show others how to inspire respect and unity in the sky and beyond.

The Aviation Art Content is for children ages 6 through 17. All entries must be submitted by Jan. 9, 2024.
