Avril Marlene (Marshall) Livermont was born on April 28, 1947 in Pine Ridge, SD to Philip and Esther (Yellow Hair) Marshall. Avril made her journey to the Spirit World on July 11,2024 at
her home in Wanblee, SD.
Avril grew up in Martin, and with the exception of attending two years at Holy Rosary Mission, had attended most of her school years at Bennett County School graduating in 1965. After graduating, she attended the National College of Business in Rapid City, SD. She then worked at the Bureau of Indian Affairs Land Appraisal Office until 1970. During this time, she met the love of her life, Jim in 1968 and were wed on December 21, 1969. From this union came Henry, Leanne, Angie, and Jami. After losing their daughter Leanne, they adopted Leanne’s daughter Tigh. Before Avril began her career at Crazy Horse School, Avril held various job titles. While she was working as a Payroll Clerk at Crazy Horse School, she also took classes through Oglala Lakota College. She graduated with her Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration in 1998.
Upon receiving her degree, she worked as the Business Manager at Crazy Horse School for two years. After working at the school, she was a stay-at-home mom and loved watching her kids and grandkids grow up; however, she still served her community in various ways. She served as the Eagle Nest District Treasurer from 2006-2008 and was a board member for Crazy Horse School from 2015 clear up until the day she passed.
Avril enjoyed going to the casino and watching various game shows and westerns. If there was one thing that Avril will be remembered by, it was her love and compassion for others. She saw the good in others and was always willing to help those who needed it most. She always had a camera in her hand and loved capturing precious moments of her family and friends. She enjoyed supporting her kids and grandkids at various events including rodeos and powwows.
Avril is survived by her husband, Jim Livermont of Wanblee, SD; son, Henry Livermont of
Wanblee, SD; daughters, Angelica Livermont of Wanblee, SD and Jami (Trent) Dierksen of Hay Springs, NE; granddaughter/daughter, Tigh Livermont of Rapid City, SD; grandchildren, Mataya (Dominic) Livermont, James and Norman Livermont, Teegin Livermont, Wesley Jacobs, Kort and Stran Dierksen; great-grandchildren, Tayla, Danny and Kylo Christensen; brother, Marvin Marshall of Madison, SD; family friend/hunka daughter, Kelly Hunter; numerous nieces and nephews; and a host of other relatives.
Avril was proceeded in death by her daughter, Leanne Rene; parents, Esther and Philip Marshall; siblings, Louise Stoefen, Thomas Marshall, Darwin Marshall, Charlotte Anderson, William Marshall, Clifford Marshall, Carol Standing Bear, Lynnis Beem, Rhoda Short Bull, Louie Marshall, Ray Marshall, Clara Mae Marshall, and one baby sister in infancy.
Pallbearers are Owen Olson, Ace Amiotte, Pat Beem, Austin Livermont, Hadley Livermont,
Norman Livermont, James Livermont, Wesley Jacobs, Kort Dierksen, and Stran Dierksen.

Visitation services for Avril Livermont will be held from 11-1 Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Crazy Horse School Commons Area in Wanblee, SD.
Funeral Services will be 1 on Thursday, July 18, 2024 at the Crazy Horse School Commons Area with Rol Bradford officiating
Burial services will be at Livermont Family Cemetery
