A baccalaureate ceremony for Chadron High School seniors who will graduate this Saturday will be held tonight at 6:30 in the high school auditorium.
Baccalaureate offers a quieter, more intimate opportunity to pause and reflect on graduating than the graduation ceremony.
Graduation is put on by the school district while baccalaureate, because it usually has a non-denominational religious focus, is sponsored by outside organizations who rent the auditorium under the same rules as other non-school organizations.
No public funds are used for baccalaureate and the school district is not involved with organizing or staging it.
