“Best Of The West” Scholarship Pageant Is Saturday In Alliance

    13 young ladies from across Nebraska will compete in Alliance this Saturday at 6:00 in the 2023 Best of the West Pageant. Tickets will be available at the door of the Alliance Performing Arts Center at 5:30

      The Best of the West merged the Miss Alliance and Miss Chadron Pageants into one with this year’s titles including Miss Alliance and 3 Outstanding Teen titles: Miss Chadron, Miss Alliance, and Miss Panhandle.

      The pageant will also feature several young ladies from the area participating in the Little Sister program, which pairs them up with a contestant. They will perform on stage and escort their contestant during the evening wear event. 

       There are 8 contestants for the Outstanding Teen crowns.and 5 to be Miss Alliance. Along with scholarships, crowns and prizes, the winners will compete for the title of Miss Nebraska or Miss Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen in North Platte next June and a chance to become Miss America or Miss America’s Outstanding Teen.

      Half the contestants vying for the Outstanding Teen titles are from the Panhandle. Madisen Meek, daughter of Jennifer and Brett Cullan and David Meek; and Arielle Lawrence, granddaughter of Julie and Jeff Lawrence, are from Hemingford.

      Also from the Panhandle are Jordan Wagner of Bridgeport, daughter of Brand and Aleece Wagner, and Addison Peck of Scottsbluff, daughter of Jeffrey and Bridget Peck. 

    North Platte is home to both Boston Pettera, daughter of Tanner and Jolene Pettera; and Grace Tanner, daughter of Beth Tanner. Emma-Claire Fritz, daughter of Myra Katherine Hale, Michael Pruss, and Greg Fritz, hails from Fremont; and Addison Dauel, daughter of Aaron and Brenda Dauel is from Gretna;

    The Miss Alliance title has 3 Panhandle hopefuls: Cheyenne Bacon of Lewellen,, daughter of Roger Bacon; Scottsbluff’s Ashlee Steyer, daughter of Ann Bishop, Josh Bishop, and Tony Steyer; and Jadyn Wetherington of Mitchell, daughter of Joleen and Jarrod Wetherington.    

     The other two contestants are Baylee Drewry of Basin, Wyo, daughter of Scott and Brandi Drewry; and Desteny Miller of Arapahoe, daughter of Brandon and Cherry Wulf.

        Co-Emcees for the evening will be Miss Nebraska 2022 Steffany Lien and Miss Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen 2022 Alexandra Thompson, who was also Miss Alliance’s Outstanding Teen 2022.  

     The audience will have an opportunity to pick their favorite contestant by voting for the audience choice award and there will be a silent auction. The proceeds from both go to support the pageant. 

      The Best of the West Pageant is part of the Miss Nebraska and Nebraska’s Outstanding Teen Competition, held under the Miss America Organization.

     All promote scholastic achievement, creative accomplishment, healthy living, and community involvement for America’s young women.
