Beverly Esther Coomes was born in Gordon, NE, on June 26, 1955 to Kelley and Esther (Meyer) Coomes. She passed away April 12, 2024.

Bev grew up in White Clay, NE, with 4 rough and tough brothers, to whom she was the baby.

She attended and graduated from Rushville High School in 1973, then moved to Rapid City with her mother to attend National College of Business.

After graduating NBC in 1976, Bev began working as a Computer Technician for MPI, which later became SCI. She stayed with the business until it closed in 2009.

She then went back to school at Western Dakota Tech and studied Medical Transcription. After graduating in 2011, she worked at Kelly Services/RMC Neurology & Rehab but left the workforce due to health issues and retired.

Bev built a new house in Rapid Valley in 1982 with the help of family and friends; she was proud of that and enjoyed her home. She resided there until 2014 when she was diagnosed with cancer and sold it to move into a nursing facility.

Bev enjoyed line and ballroom dancing. She was an avid reader that also enjoyed her favorite shows and movies with Yellowstone being her recent favorite. She had a great love for all her pets throughout the years.

She enjoyed always taking pictures and had quite the collection of photo albums – she was the one that always had a camera in her purse.

She enjoyed time spent with family and all the friends she made along the way with her easy-going personality.

Beverly was preceded in death by her parents, Kelley and Esther Coomes; brothers Albert, Colin and Calvin; niece Ronelle (Coomes) Massie; nephew Delvin Coomes; and her beloved pets Rachel, Sassy and Tigger.

She is survived by brother Ron Coomes; cousins Joyce Jobgen, Elaine Kleinsasser and Bonnie Thompson; nieces and nephews Ted, Lisa, Sheri, Shauna, Coley, Casey, Thomas, Chris, Cody, Lynda, Crissy, Mike, Kevin and their families. She is also survived by numerous great-nieces, great-nephews, and sisters-in-law.

Pallbearers will be: Mike Coomes, Kevin Coomes, Chris Coomes, Cody Coomes, Alex Blacksmith, and Ron Blacksmith.

Honorary Pallbearers will be all family and friends along with the staff at Avantara Mountain View Facility.

Arrangements have been entrusted with Kirk Funeral Home of Rapid City.
