Black Hills National Forest Visitor Information Services will be limited on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, as frontliner staff will be attending training for the new eCollections Retail System (ERS), that will be implemented across the forest, Monday, February 5, 2024.
“Sales of forest permits and passes such as Off Highway Vehicle permits, America the Beautiful passes, firewood permits, tree transplant permits, various maps that are sold, and more, will not be available for sale to the public that day,” said Scott Jacobson, Public Affairs Officer for the Black Hills National Forest.
All Black Hills National Forest offices will remain open to assist the public with questions and information.
Seasonal recreation passes, as well as products from Black Hills Parks and Forest Association, will be available for purchase.
The new eCollections Retail System (ERS) Implementation will streamline an electronic tracking system that accounts for and audits the sale of forest passes and permits.
