Bob R Jones was born April 2, 1929, in Hatfield, MO, the third of 11 children born to Dick and Alice Jones. He passed away peacefully March 1, 2023, at Greeley Village Assisted Living in Greeley, CO.

As a child, the family moved to Sidney, NE, where Bob graduated from Sidney High School in 1947. After high school graduation, Bob entered the Army and served for 18 months. Upon leaving the Army, Bob settled in Chadron, where his parents and family had moved.

Bob met his first wife, Erma Lee Dierksen in Chadron and married in 1950. They had 2 children, Launa Kay Jones Donohue and Kathi Irene Jones Nelsen. The family moved to Sidney, where Bob began his lifelong career with the gas and oil industry in sales and management.

He was transferred to Colorado, first to Brush followed by Arvada where Erma passed away in January 1958. That October, Bob married his second wife, Florence Arbach, and they had 2 children: Jennifer Joy Jones Kramer and Jeffrey Mark Jones.

Bob and family were transferred to Wyoming, New Mexico, and then back to Colorado, where they settled in Brighton. Florence passed away in June 1991.

In 1993, following retirement, Bob married Judie Mohatt. Bob and Judie made one more move to Greeley, where they were close to Jeff and his family.

Bob found joy in being a father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He loved attending the Jones family reunions, catching up and sharing his many family stories with his brothers, sisters, and extended family.

He enjoyed making day trips to the Rocky Mountains, seeing elk and taking in the scenery, and he made several trips to the Black Hills where he visited Mount Rushmore and Keystone.

When traveling, Bob shared stories of his working days, pointing out many oil and gas wells he’d been involved with.

He was happiest being surrounded by family, playing cards, board games and rooting for the Denver Broncos with his son Jeff. He loved pancakes and coffee and rarely missed dessert.

Bob was preceded in death by his parents; his wives Erma Lee Dierksen Jones and Florence Arbach Jones; his son Jeffrey Jones; Brothers Billie Jones and Ross Jones; and sisters Bonnie Stear, RoseMary Folsom, and Janice Blundell.

He is survived by his daughters Launa Jones Donohue (Kevin), Greeley, CO, and children Tracie Heckenlively (Tim) and Shawn Donohue (Corinne); Kathi Jones Nelsen (Paul), Edgemont, SD, and daughters Jenny Nelsen (Andrew Hays), Erin Nelsen Mullen (Chris Mullen), and Christian Nelsen; and Jennifer Jones Kramer (Tim), Prescott, AZ, and sons Jeremy Frost (Amanda) and Ryan Frost (Kate).
