Funeral services for 53-year old Bonnie Wilcox are Monday, April 15, 2024 at 2:00 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, SD, with Mother Michelle Dayton, Lay Minister Johnny Wilson and Chris Grillo officiating and traditional Lakota services by Ernest Red Elk and Calvin Red Elk

Burial is a the Gethsemane Episcopal Cemetery in Wanblee

A one-night wake service starts at 1:00 PM, Sunday, April 14, at 1:00 at the Crazy Horse School in Wanblee, SD

Bonnie Lynn Wilcox was born on March 29, 1971 in Rapid City, SD to Floyd “Sh’lo” Wilcox and Julie (Milk) Wilcox, she was a twin to Jason Boyd Wilcox. Bonnie made her journey to the Spirit World on March 29, 1971 at the Monument Health Home Plus Hospice in Rapid City.

Bonnie went to school at Crazy Horse School all her educational years.  She excelled in various sports such as volleyball, basketball, swimming, and rodeo.  Bonnie was also the Salutatorian of her graduating class of 1989.

Bonnie followed in her family’s footsteps and went into the Public Safety field.  She worked for the Kiyaksa Otipi Reintegration Detention Center and the Wanbli Wiconi Tipi for over 20 years.

 She was then employed by Crazy Horse School as a Security Guard, a position she held until she was no longer able to work.  

Bonnie loved her horses and most of all loved being a grandmother to Athena and Jason.

Bonnie is survived by her sons Edwin Wilcox (Jobi) and Colton Randall; her grandchildren Athena and Jason; special friend Virgil Quick Bear; several brothers and sisters; and many nieces, nephews, and a host of relatives.

Bonnie was preceded in death by her parents Floyd “Sh’lo” Wilcox and Julie (Milk) Wilcox; her cekpa Jason Boyd Wilcox; brothers Levi, Leroy, and Warren; sisters Elizabeth and Phyllis; nieces Jaylene Samantha, Precious, and Lori Lynn; and nephew Justin.

Pallbearers will be Corrine Sitting Up, Virgil Quick Bear, Jamie May, Bob Amiotte, William “BJ” Bettelyoun, Roger Red Elk Jr, Elmer Clairmont, Jr., and Marlon White Feather.

Honorary pallbearers will be Bennett County Hospital, Hans P Peterson Memorial Hospital, Monument Health Hospital, Cancer Care Institute, Hospice House, Pine Ridge Ambulance, All Crazy Horse School Staff & Students, Crazy Horse School Class of 1989, Dick & Carol Lee, and All Friends & Relatives.
