
Nebraska authorities say a longtime volunteer firefighter died Sunday while the Bovee Fire near Halsey. Officials say 59-year-old Mike Moody died after suffering a medical emergency.
Moody was assistant chief of the Purdum Volunteer Fire Department, where he’d been a member for over 40 years and had previously served as chief.
He was praised as “an extremely active member of the Purdum department and well-known by first responders across the state – a loving husband, father and grandfather and a respected and well-loved member of his community.”
