British author Alan Wilkinson, whose 25 books include 4 on or set in Western Nebraska, has returned to the region again and is making public appearances today and tomorrow in Chadron.

Wilkinson, who’s also written some 200 TV scripts as well as numerous articles and stories, is at the Chadron Public Library tonight at 6:00 and at the Bean Broker tomorrow night at 7:00.

Wilkinson’s first visited Western Nebraska in 1991 and returned many times, trips that included speaking at the Mari Sandoz Society annual gathering and being honored by being named an Admiral in the Great Nebraska Navy.

Wilkinson had long been an admirer of Sandhills author Mari Sandoz and spent 6 months alone in a hunting lodge in the Sandhills on the banks of the Niobrara River. He turned that stay into the book The Red House on the Niobrara.

His newest novel. Lost and Found in Nebraska, tells the story of a man returning home to Northwest Nebraska after 45 years, and he will give a reading from it at his Chadron appearances.
