Cardinals Girls Wrestling Qualifies Three For State

The Chadron Cardinals girls wrestling team competed in the Class B-4 district wrestling tournament this past Friday and Saturday in Bayard. The girls wrestled hard, finishing sixth as a team with three girls qualifying for the Class B State Wrestling Tournament in Omaha. Josey Werner, Bristol Prado, and Vivian Golembiewski each qualified for state. Werner was district champion at 105, Prado took second place at 120 while Golembiewski was second at 170.ย 

Taylee Williamson at 110 earned her 100th career win but came up just short, falling in the heartbreak round 2-1. Adday Tewahade went 2-2 at 145. Addie Diers went 1-2 at 155 along with Abigail Bower finished 1-2 at 115. Lailee Smith was 0-2 at 100, along Gianna LaPorte at 130, Graycen Oโ€™Donnell at 140 and Kadence Fisher at 190.

The Class B girls state wrestling tournament will begin Tuesday, February 18th at CHI Health Center in downtown Omaha with the finals taking place the evening of Wednesday, February 19th.

Williamson and Diers finish their high school wrestling careers with north of 200 wins combined and were trailblazers in the rise of Chadron High School girls wrestling and girls wrestling in the northern panhandle as a whole.
