Cardinals Sits Middle Of The Pack After Day One Of State Golf

The Chadron High girls golf team finished the first day of the Class C state golf meet in Columbus in 14th place after a score of 440.

Taegan Bach is leading the Cardinal pack with her round of 99 which has her in a tie for 44th place. Kenzie Pourier fired a round of 106 and sits in 62.

Eli Uhing ended her day with a 117, Norah Winckler shot a 118 and Reece Ritterbush carded a 119.

Gordon-Rushville’s Kylie Coomes had the best round of the day for area golfers with a 95 which puts her in a tie for 27th. Tessa Hurburt finished her round with a 101 and is tied for 50th.

Olivia Lovegrove of Lincoln Chrisitan has already distanced herself from the rest of the field after a 2-under score of 70. Current runner-up Camryn Johnson of Broken Bow is nine strokes back with a 79.

Broken Bow has a 16-stroke lead over Minden in the team race with a 348.

Scottsbluff is making a run at both the individual and team championships at the Class B meet in Gering.

The Bearcats trail leader Omaha Duchesne Academy by just three strokes, 320-323.

Scottsbluff’s Anna Kelley sits four strokes in back of Elkhorn North’s Julia Karmazin 71-75.
