Full steam ahead for the Chadron Cardinals volleyball team towards sub-districts and last night in their path was the Rapid City Christian Comets. The Cardinals did not let them get in the way in a 3-1 win.
The Cardinals came out of the gates strong with a dominant 25-15 win in the first set. They continued with a 25-19 second set that saw the Comets get some momentum. That led to a third set win for the Comets 25-20 with their backs against the wall. The Cardinals responded by reversing the script with a 25-20 fourth set win to close the book on the night.
The Cardinals were led in attack by Paige Slingsby who finished the night with 15 kills, following her was Beau Behrends with 12 and Jove Griese finished with 10.
Serving wise the Cardinals saw sophomore Sophie Watson finish with five aces.
Looking at the stats for the team the Cardinals finished with 49 kills hitting .282, along with 12 aces.
The Cardinals sit at 12-15 on the season and will go to Alliance on Saturday for the Western Conference Tournament. Joining them will be Alliance, Gering, Mitchell, Scottsbluff and Sidney. The Cardinals wrap up their home schedule on Tuesday when they host Sidney.
