Cardinals Spike Past Bulldogs

The Chadron Cardinals volleyball team wrapped up their regular season in Alliance on Monday night, looking to get back to .500 going into subdistricts. 

The Cardinals fell in the firsts set but bounced back to take a 3-1 win over Alliance and finish the regular season with an 18-18 record. The Cardinals struggled in the first set, losing 25-18 which extended a set winning streak to six straight sets won by the Bulldogs over the Cardinals.

The Cardinals bounced back in a big way during the second set, winning 25-18 which set the tone for the rest of the match as the Cardinals took the third set 25-17, and then completed the match with a 25-23 fourth set to win 3-1 over the Bulldogs. 

It was a balanced attack for the Cardinals with 30 kills spread out evenly. Paige Slingsby and Jove Griese led the attack with seven kills each, Sophie Watson had six and Beau Behrends had five. Serving wise Jenny Pinnt had five aces and also led the team with 29 assists. 

The Cardinals wrap up the regular season 18-18 and will take a six match winning streak into sub districts which start on Monday. As of Wednesday the Cardinals will be the four seed in their sub district with Chase County, Ogallala, and Bridgeport ahead of them. Mitchell and Hershey will be behind them in the bracket which will be officially released by the end of the week.
