Cards Split At Alliance As Boys Win And Girls Lose

Loading

Chadron High split a doubleheader at Alliance last night, winning the boys game 63-54 after dropping the girls game 55-48.

The Lady Cards had beaten Alliance twice last week by 21 and 8, but it’s hard to beat a team 3 times in a season – much less 3 times in 8 days.

The game was close through the first 3 quarters as Alliance led 17-14 after the 1st period and 32-26 at the half. Chadron cut the gap to 43-41 going into the final quarter, but were outscored 12-7 over the final 8 minutes.

Demi Ferguson was the only Card in double digits as she finished with 18. Macy Seeblom had a game-high 22 for Alliance, 18 in the 1st half, while Joelynne Clarke had 16. Chadron falls to 11-9 with Alliance 6-12 after just their 3rd win in their last 10 games

The boys game was also close at the half with Alliance up 28-27, but Chadron exploded for 24 points in the 3rd to grab a 51-41 lead going into the 4th and held the lead to the end.

The Cardinals had 3 scorers in double-figures, led by Tyer Spotted Elk’s 15, which included 6-8 from the foul line. Thomas Smith added 14 and Brock Berry 11

Chadron now stands at 13-6 with wins in 3 straight games and 8 of the last 10 while Alliance drops to 6-12 after their 6th straight loss.
