Memorial services for 98-year old Carol (Phillips) McAllister of Moline, IL,, a native of Hay Springs, NE, will be held at a later date. 

Memorials in Carol’s honor may be made to Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church in Moline, where she was an active member for more than 70 years.

Carol McAllister was born Nov 4, 1924, to Dwight and Inez (DeHaven) Phillips in Hay Springs. She died on Feb 14, 2023, in hospice at Friendship Manor in Rock Island, IL.

After graduating high school at 16, Carol worked locally at the Gambles Store, First National Bank, and Northwestern State Bank. She then attended the University of Nebraska-Lincoln, where she met her future husband, Lee McAllister. 

They married on May 27, 1947, and moved to Moline in 1948. To this union, three children were born; Thomas (Cozad, Ne); Rebecca (North Platte, Ne); and Jeana McAllister (Champaign, IL).

While raising her family, Carol was active in PTA, League of Women Voters, and Bethel Wesley United Methodist Church – where she served as treasurer for many years and was involved in the Priscilla Circle and the women’s society. When the children were old enough, Carol went to work at the Trinity School of Nursing – serving there from 1975 to 2000, when she retired at age 76/

Carol was preceded in death by her husband Lee. She is survived by all her children and her sister Marvel Heuke (Kearney, NE).

Her final gift was to donate her body to the Carver College of Medicine in Iowa City.
