A Mass of Christian Burial for 97-year old Carolyn Janis will be held Tues, Nov 7, 2023 at 10:00 at Our Lady of Sorrows Catholic Church Hall in Kyle, SD, with Father Brad Held, SJ, Father Ron Seminara, Deacon Bill White, and Minister Brent Cuny officiating.
Burial will follow at 2:30 at the Black Hills National Cemetery in Sturgis, SD
A one-night wake service starts Monday, Nov 6, at 3:00 at Our Lady of Sorrows in Kyle with evening services at 7:00.

Carolyn Frances Janis was born on July 9, 1927 at home in Kyle, SD to John and Alice (Clifford) Ferguson Sr. Carolyn made her journey to the Spirit World on October 30, 2023 at the Michael J Fitzmaurice State Veterans Home in Hot Springs, SD.

Carolyn was preceded in death by her spouse of 60 years Richard Janis Sr; parents John & Alice (Clifford) Ferguson; children Johnny Janis and Richard “Butch” Janis; sister Ethlyn Hunter; brothers Franklin Ferguson, John Ferguson, Fred Ferguson, and Leonard Ferguson; and grandson Shane Hodson.
Pallbearers will be Chris Janis, Lance Christensen Sr, Mike Christensen, Shon Janis, Clint Janis, Charles Winters Jr, Dwight Winters Sr, Laumberto Romero, Pete Janis, and Calvin Ferguson.
