The family of Cassandra Rae One Horn is saddened to announce the passing of our beloved sister, daughter, and mother. Cassandra “Lakaliyopi Nahon Waunspe Iciciya” was born on November 18, 1983 in Pine Ridge, South Dakota to Ervin and Emmaline Ferguson-One Horn. Cassandra made her journey on August 3, 2026 in Kyle, South Dakota. Cassandra “Cass” was very outspoken and made friends easily. Cass was always laughing and smiling when she saw friends and family. She enjoyed helping people and had so much love for everyone. She was her grandma Mary Rose’s girl and always there to help her with anything and everything. Cass loved her children so very much and they were her world.
Cass began her education in 1989 with Headstart in Kyle and graduated from Little Wound Middle School on May 20, 1998. She went on to attend Kicking Horse Job Corp in Montana where she received her High School degree. She attended Oglala Lakota College and received her AAS in Officer Technology and AA.
She is survived by her parents, Ervin and Emmaline One Horn; Her children, William D. Thunder Horse, Jr., Percy, Lennie, and Mary Downham, and step-son, Ryder Tobacco; aunts, Nanette Kills In Water, Virginia DeGarmo, Georgianna (Mike) Wells, and LaDyne Ferguson; uncles, Dale One Horn, Craig “Tobi” Kills In Water, Dwight (Vanessa) Kills In Water, Raphael O’Rourke, Gary Ferguson, Sr., and Ronald Ferguson, Sr.; sister, Keeyane (Jordan) Hofer; grandma’s, Lavina Red Owl, Ethel Kills Straight, and Evelyn Gregg; and grandpa’s, Henry George O’Rourke, Jr., and Robert Two Crow.
Cassandra was preceded in death by her grandparents, Willard and Mary Rose (No Neck) Kills In Water, Emmett Little Whiteman, Gladys O’Rourke and Franklyn Ferguson; uncles, Lewis One Horn, Willard Kills In Water, Jr., Sam One Horn and Doug Ferguson; aunts, Jayne Wilcox and Donna Turning Hawk; cousins, Deanna Reddest, Delanna One Horn, Todd Little Bull, Janelle One Horn, Ivan Reddest, Jr, Lewis Top Bear, Thomas Barlease, Ashtynn Hunter, Sadie Red Owl and Ronald Louis Ferguson, Jr.; great-grandparents, John No Neck, Jessie Little Bull-No Neck, Hank & Alice Garnette-O’Rourke, Louis & Betty Little Whiteman; and great-great grandparents, Sam One Horn-Kills In Water, and Lucy Black Bear.
