The Chadron High boys and girls basketball teams had very different games on Tuesday as they split with Hot Springs on the road.
The Chadron girls held Hot Springs to just two 2nd half baskets and broke open a game that was just 24-17 at the half in a 50-24 victory.
Taverra Sayaloune led all scorers with 10 points as one of nine Cards that contributed points.
The Chadron boys used a 21-9 run in the 4th quarter to push Hot Springs to overtime before falling 65-60.
Chadron trailed 40-36 heading to the 4th quarter and watched the deficit grow to 48-36 before starting their run. The Cardinals held a 57-54 in regulation before Hot Springs’ Matt Close knocked down the game tying triple with 7-seconds left.
The Bison went 5-of-6 from the free throw line in the extra period while Chadron went 0-for-5 resulting in the final difference.
Xander Provance was tops for Chadron with 13 points. Brady Daniels added 11 and Gage Wild and Tyler Spotted Elk had 10 each.
The Chadron girls will host Lakota Tech on Thursday while both squads will host Mitchell on Saturday.
