Chadron Community Hospital CEO Jon Reiners has released the following statement regarding care based on immigration status:
“Some patients have expressed concern about whether immigration status may be requested or revealed in connection with seeking medical care.
The hospital does not consider immigration status of any patient in providing care. We are deeply committed to protecting the privacy of our patients and their families, regardless of
immigration status. Immigration status is not shared with law enforcement merely as a result of seeking medical care and we encourage patients to seek and receive any medical care which is needed.
We do not want our patients to avoid care based upon legal status. Law enforcement agencies play an important role in protecting us and deserve our cooperation and
respect. Rest assured that the hospital will not voluntarily release any information about a patient to the immigration authorities unless it is required by law or court order. We value the trust that you place in us.
