The Chadron High girls and boys basketball teams made it a sweep on Friday night over Valentine in the semifinals of the George Watson Holiday Classic at Chadron State College.
After trailing by as many as five in the first quarter, the Chadron girls rallied to snap a three game losing streak with a 58-40 win over Valentine. Demi Ferguson and Taverra Sayaloune each scored in double figures with 18 and 14 points each.
The Chadron boys watched Valentine stay within striking distance through the early part of the 4th quarter before grabbing a 63-50 victory. Broc Berry had 15 of his 19 in the 2nd half to lead the Cardinals while Tyler Spotted Elk netted 11.
Earlier in the day, Custer’s boys and girls claimed easy wins over Hemingford taking a 64-24 win in the girls game and a 78-23 victory in the boys game.
Chadron and Custer will play in the championship games with the girls up first at 1:00 pm, followed by the boys. You can catch the games on AM 610 KCSR and Chadrad.com.
