The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 seniors got back to action Sunday. Going on the road to Valentine for a couple games before the Area Tournament this upcoming weekend. Chadron showed no rust from having 12 days off, taking down Plainview 7-1, then finishing off the night taking down Valentine 9-1.
The first game vs Plainview saw Chadron jump on Plainview during the second inning with a two run inning. Chadron continued to add throughout the game with a two-run home run by Caden Buskirk in the third, then added three more in the fifth to take the 7-1 win over Plainview.
Burkirk finished the game 2-3 with a double, two run home run and three RBI’s.
Three Chadron pitchers combined to allow only two hits, one run and 19 strikeouts in the seven inning game. Kobe Bissonette was credited with the win, getting the start and going four innings with no hits, no earned runs and 12 strikeouts.
The second game of the day for Chadron saw them take down the host Valentine 9-1. Chadron got a run in the top of the first and never looked back. The third inning was a repeat from the first game for Buskirk as he hit another two run home run to steer Chadron completely clear. Chadron continued to add throughout the game taking home the 9-1 win.
Buskirk finished the game going 1-4 with a home run and two RBI’s. Bissonette had a game, going 3-3 with three RBI’s.
Three Chadron pitchers combined for a no hitter, allowing four walks, one run and 12 strikeouts.
Buskirk got the start and the win going three innings with no hits, runs, and five strikeouts,
Between the two games combined Chadron hitters had 22 hits, five doubles,and two home runs. The pitching staff was dominant, combining for 31 strikeouts, three hits, two runs, and four walks.
Chadron finishes the regular season 11-10 and gears up for the Area Tournament which begins Friday in Gering.
