The Chadron High softball team went 0-2 and earned district runner-up in the C-3 final against Wahoo Bishop Neumann there on Friday.
Chadron trailed 2-0 in the top of the 4th inning when they had runners on 2nd and 3rd with just one out, but stranded both and never threatened against as the Cavaliers earned the 8-0, 6-inning win.
Ember Diers collected two of the Cardinals three hits, both singles. Josslyn Pourier had the other with a leadoff double in the 3rd.
Addisyn Sylliaasa recorded 14 strikeouts in the circle for Bishop Neumann.
The Cards battled early in the 2nd game, trailing 3-0 after a half an inning, but Chadron answered on a two RBI single from Aubrey Milburn.
The Cavalier lead stretched to 10-2 through 4.5-innings before Chadron brought across two more in the bottom of the frame on back to back RBI’s from Diers and Sarah LaBere to pull within 10-4.
A couple of Bishop Neumann solo home runs in the top of the 5th was the difference in their 12-4 victory.
Milburn went 2-for-2 in the 2nd game and added a run to go along with her RBI.
Chadron will finish as the C-3 district runner-up while Neumann advances to next week’s state tournament.
