The final night of the regular season saw playoff seeding on the line and also the C1-7 District Championship as the Chadron Cardinals welcomed the Sidney Red Raiders to Chadron. The Cardinals were not able to get any traction on offense as they fell 14-0.
Chadron got the ball first on a windy night in Chadron and traded three and outs with the Red Raiders. Sidney finally broke through on a short touchdown run by Alek Doty as they led 7-0 after the first quarter. Sidney added another touchdown in the second quarter to close the books on scoring for the game as they led 14-0 going into the halftime break.
Neither team was able to get much going in the second half as temperatures dropped and the wind kept howling out of the south with both teams being held to season lows in yards.
Chadron finishes the regular season at 7-2 and with O’Neil losing to Columbus Lakeview will slot in as the eight seed in the C1 playoffs. The Cardinals will host Lincoln Christian on Friday, November 1st. We will have the game on 610am KCSR with pregame at 3:30 and kickoff at 4 from Cardinal Field. The winner will move on to the quarterfinals to play the winner Sidney/Omaha Roncalli Catholic on November 8th.
