Chadron Fight Lands Rushville Man In Jail After Pulling Knife

Loading

A Rushville man was arrested early Sunday afternoon following a fight in Chadron that saw him draw a knife and accidentally cut himself multiple times.

35-year old Aaron Arnold was taken into custody on single felony counts of Attempted 2nd-Degree Assault and Terroristic Threats.

Chadron Police Officer Sam Cafferty says the Communications Center received a call reporting a fight at the Royal Court Apartments on Pinecrest Drive that involved a knife and that one of combatants had left on foot, heading south.

Cafferty and Police Chief Rick Hickstein responded with Hickstein spotting a man matching the description of the combatant walking south on Cedar Buttes.

Cafferty says the man, who was then identified as Arnold, had blood on his clothes and lacerations to his hands.

The Chadron Fire Dept Rescue Unit was called and as EMTs treated Arnold, Officer Cafferty went back to the apartment complex and interviewed a witness and 2 people who were involved in the fight.

Cafferty determined from the interviews that the fight had started between Arnold and another man and that Arnold eventually pulled out a knife. No one was stabbed, but Arnold did suffer cuts to the hands from his own knife.

Officer Cafferty and Chief Hickstein both offer appreciation for assistance from the Nebraska State Patrol.
