According to the Great Plains Fire Information page, the Chadron Volunteer Fire Department, along with federal and local resources, fought and contained the Power Stroke fire Monday afternoon, keeping it at half an acre.Â
The fire was reported shortly before 10:30 Monday morning approximately 10 miles southwest of Chadron. Great Plains Fire says that lightning from previous storms was the cause of the blaze.
