Demi Ferguson dropped a game high 19 points and the Chadron girls took 3rd place at the Western Conference Tournament for the 2nd straight year with a 51-43 win over Gering on Saturday morning.
The Cardinals fired out with four made three’s in the opening quarter and then went 8-of-10 from the free throw line in the 2nd quarter to build a 26-18 halftime lead.
Chadron pushed their lead out to 15 twice in the 3rd quarter, but the margin got no closer than the final 8 points.
Jaleigh McCartney added 9 points and Sophie Wess scored 7 for the Cardinals.
Sidney won the championship over Scottsbluff 51-37 and Alliance took down Sterling, CO for 5th place 46-30. Mitchell won the 7th place game over Arvada, CO 63-4.
