Chadron Girls To Play For 3rd, Boys 5th At Western Conference

The Chadron boys and girls basketball teams split games on the 2nd day of the Western Conference Tournament in Scottsbluff.

The Chadron girls fell in a tight one against SIdney 49-44 and will now play for third place on Saturday against the loser of Gering and Scottsbluff.

The Cardinals trailed in a back and forth game 43-41 with a 1:25 left in the game but the Red Raiders went 6-for-6 from the free throw line down to clinch the win.

Demi Ferguson was the only Chadron player in double figures with a game high 17.

The Chadron boys rolled over Arvada in the consolation semifinals 79-41 and will play in the 5th place game against the Mitchell/Alliance loser.

Chadron built a 35-18 halftime lead and outscored the Bulldogs 31-13 in the 3rd quarter to pull away.

Gage Wild and Broc Berry were in double figures for the second straight game with 14 and 11 points respectively.

The girls game will by at 10:00 am on Saturday morning while the boys will play around 2:30 and we will have both of them on AM 610 KCSR and Chadrad.com.
