Gianna LaPorte competes at the Chadron Invite

The Chadron High girls wrestling team had a busy weekend in the panhandle. They started off by winning the Hemingford Invite on Friday before turning around and finishing runner up in the Chadron Invite. Along with six individual titles over the two days there was history made on Friday with Addie Diers becoming the first Chadron High girls wrestler to win 100 career matches.

On Friday the Cardinals wrestled in the 21 team Hemingford Invite. Success was abound with four individual titles along with two other medalists. Josey Werner stood atop the 105 pound class along with Bristol Prado at 120, Addie Diers at 155 and Vivian Golembiewski at 170 pounds. Taylee Williamson was the lone silver medalist at 110. Gianna LaPorte won the bronze at 130 and Graycen Oโ€™Donnell got fourth at 135. Laliee Smith at 100, Adday Tewahade at 145 and Kadence Fisher at 190 wrapped up the Cardinals competing as part of the team championship in Hemingford. During the Hemingford Invite Diers became the first Cardinal wrestler to win 100 career matches.

Then on Saturday the Cardinals returned to Chadron to compete at the Chadron Invite. The team took second place behind Gering in the 22 team invite. Two girls went home with first place medals with Addie Diers winning the 155 class and Vivian Golembiewski winning the 170 pound class. Bristol Prado took second place at 120, Josey Werner got third at 105. Gianna LaPorte at 130 along with Adday Tewahade at 145 and Kadence Fisher at 190 got fourth place. Graycen Oโ€™Donnell wrapped up the medalists with a sixth. Lailee Smith also competed for the Cardinals at 100.

Next up for the Cardinals will be a busy Thursday-Friday with a trip to West Point to compete for a state dual title before returning to the panhandle to wrestle in the Mitchell Invite on Friday.
