In what Chadron head coach CJ Bach called the best round of his coaching career, the Cardinal boys golf team carded a 312 and ran away from the field at the Morrill Invite on Monday. Chadron’s first place finish saw them 29 strokes ahead of runner up Hemingford.

Broc Berry shot a career best 3-under, 69, to finish in a tie for first with Mitchell’s Cael Peters. Gage Wild ended the day with a 6-over, 78, to finish all alone in 5th place. Andrew Sommerville fired a round of 82 to place 8th and Tobin Meyer was just a stroke behind with an 83, good enough for 10th to round out the Cardinal scorecard.

Trey Hendrickson finished his day with an 88.

Crawford’s Roman Metz shot an 84 for 11th with teammate Rhett Flack a stroke back for 13th place. Hay Springs’ Hunter McDonald was inside the top 20 with a round of 87.

Chadron, Crawford and Hay Springs will all golf at Alliance on Friday.
