The Chadron High track team came away with two automatic state qualifiers and one wild card at Tuesday’s B-6 district meet at Ogallala.
Kyndall Carnahan and Sophie Watson were runner-ups in their events, the 3200m and high jump, to become auto qualifiers.
Carnahan ran 12:16 in the two mile for her 2nd place finish while Watson cleared 5′ 3″ in the high jump and cleared everyone below her by two inches.
Olivia Lyon earned one of 6 wildcards for those that don’t finish inside the top three at districts, by having one of the next six best marks at a district meet with a toss of 119′ 08″.
Carnahan was also 6th in the 1600 while Lyon 6th in the shot put as the Lady Cards scored points with 13 top 8 finishes, but only 3 state qualifiers ended higher than 6th in their events.
Demi Ferguson was 6th in the 400 with Grace Pyle 6th in the HJ. Grabbing 7ths were Beau Behrends in the 800, Addison Morrison in the TJ, and Hannah Sprock in the shot put. The 4×800 relay was 5th, the 4×400 relay 7th, and the 4×100 was 8th.
It was a tough district meet for the Chadron boys as they had just 2 athletes place. Quinn Bailey was 6th in the 300 hurdles and 8th in the triple jump while Kole Carnaha was 7th in the 1600.
