The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 juniors begin their postseason Friday as the three seed taking on the sixth seed Gothenburg. Chadron is 17-10 on the season and carries a four game winning streak into the tournament.
They start an area tournament that features the one seeded Sidney (11-2-1), two seeded McCook (20-8), Chadron as the three seed, Alliance (19-14-1) will be the four seed, Gering (11-10-1) as the five, Gothenburg (5-12) six and Ogallala (6-19) rounds out the tournament as the seven seed. The tournament is a double elimination tournament that will send the winner to the Class B juniors state tournament in Valley/Waterloo.
Looking at how Chadron has done against teams in the tournament, they are 1-1 vs the teams they have played with Chadron winning at home and losing on the road vs those teams. They have not met up with McCook, Gothenburg or Ogallala this season.
Chadron this season has a .394 batting average with 248 hits, 43 doubles, 11 triples, and 179
RBI’s. They have been led in hitting by Bricen Wright who leads the team in batting average at .514, he also leads the team in hits and sits third in RBI’s with 25.

Pitching wise Chadron starts the area tournament with a 5.89 ERA with 182 strikeouts and 140 walks. Landen leads the team with a 2.54 ERA and has struck out 49 batters, 15 more than second on the team.
