The final month of the season for the Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 juniors opened up with being shutout and ended with being shutout. A month of July, where outside the first and last game they averaged 9.6 runs per game, with a lowest of four in a loss to Rapid City and a high of 19 vs Sheridan, Wyoming. Ended in disappointment as the Chadron juniors fell to Alliance 8-0 Monday to see their season come to a close.Â
Alliance had shut down pitching from starting pitcher Carver Nemnich who went the five inning distance allowing no runs on one hit. That one hit for Chadron came off a Tayven Jenkins single in the top of the third on a ground ball single. That and a walk by Derek Bissonette were the only two blemishes on the pitching line for Nemnich.
Alliance hitting came out of the gates strong putting up a six spot in the second inning to put the game away. An added two runs in the fourth sealed the run rule victory for Alliance, as they won 8-0 to put themselves in the catbird seat for a berth in the state tournament.
Chadron juniors finished the season with a 19-12, a team that averaged 8.3 runs per game. Was capable of/did put up 24 runs in a game. Had pitching that no hit teams twice in 31 games. A good season that brings a lot of hope/optimism for the seniors area tournament which begins July 26th in Gering, and for the next 12 months of sports. Ends just two wins short of state.
