The Chadron Platte Valley Bank American Legion Post 12 juniors and seniors opened up Maurice Horse Field for the summer as they hosted Bridgeport Tuesday night.

It was a split night as the juniors fell 13-7 while the seniors routed Bridgeport 10-0.

The seniors’ game was all Chadron from the beginning as pitcher Aksel Lans continued the hot start for Chadron pitchers striking out six Bridgeport batters while allowing only three baserunners.

Chadron opened the scoring quickly in the bottom of the first as Braden Wright led off with a triple and was brought in two batters by Tobin Landen as part of a four run first inning by Chadron. Chadron was able to score a lone run in the bottom of the second off a Jack O’Brien sac fly that scored Creighton Ryan.

A three spot in the bottom of the third allowed Chadron to pull away for their first win of the season in a 10-0 run rule win.

Ryan had two runs on two hits while O’Brien went 2-2 with a walk as well in the win.

The juniors game saw Bridgeport ride crooked numbers in the top of the first and third innings to pull ahead as Bridgeport took the game 13-7. Chadron, down 13-2 made a late run with five straight runs between the fourth and fifth innings but saw the comeback come up short in the loss. Parker Reitz had two hits and scored twice while Theron Brown had four runs driven in on two hits.

Next up for Chadron is a trip over to Rushville to legendary Modisett Park to take on Sheridan County for a juniors/seniors doubleheader. First pitch for the juniors game is set for 5:30 with the seniors to follow.
