The Chadron Police Department has had an uptick in thefts over the last few days in the Chadron area. According to Chadron Police Chief Rick Hickstein, while one was a political sign in a Chadron area resident’s yard, the majority have been thefts from unlocked cars.
Chief Hickstein stated that a juvenile male suspect was issued a citation Tuesday night in relation to a few of the reported thefts from vehicles.
The Chadron Police Department would like to remind the public to not leave your vehicles unlocked and not leave valuables in your car.
According to Chief Hickstein and Lieutenant Gabe Walz, another theft from this week was of a political yard sign. However, that incident is currently under investigation and no arrests or citations have been made yet.
