An explosion about 7:00 this morning on the east side of Chadron destroyed a travel trailer and the garage it was in and sent one man to the hospital.
Chadron Fire Chief Branden Martens says the exact cause of the blast isn’t known, but was some type of problem related to the trailer’s propane system. He calls it simply a “bad luck accident.”
Martens says the trailer was a total loss with the garage one likely as well with one wall blown out and 2 others bowed out.
The man who was taken to the hospital was inside the garage at the time of the explosion, which did not result in a fire. The man was taken to Chadron Community Hospital by ambulance with burns and other non-life threatening injuries.
