Students, teachers, and parents in the Chadron school district have a new free app for their phones this year that will make it easier to keep up-to-date on activities and news.
Superintendent Ginger Meyer says the Cardinal App grew out of dissatisfaction over the way the district’s website looks on portable devices such as cell phones.
Meyer says the commercial product they found that best fit the district’s needs was expensive, leading district Tech Coordinator Brock Mittleider and Director of Technology Uati (WAH-tee) Paopao to volunteer to create one themselves.
Mittleider, a 1999 Chadron High and 2004 Chadron State College graduate, says creating the Cardinal App posed challenges, but nothing they couldn’t handle.
Superintendent Meyer says the Cardinal App will complement and supplement the current Remind notification system that’s become the primary way parents, students, and staff learn of things such as school closing because of the weather.
