Wednesday afternoon at 1:29, 1:34 PM, and 1:42 PM, NPPD reported three power outages in the Chadron area.
According to NPPD’s website three unexpected outages took place within and near the city of Chadron. The first and largest of these outages affected the power of 373 people.
Although NPPD has not released an official cause of the outage, there have been eyewitness reports of a SWANN garbage truck catching a low-hanging power line with a metal dumpster at 2nd and Oak Streets. Numerous businesses and residences still have no power as of 2PM Wednesday afternoon.

The outages have reportedly affected 375 people in total and NPPD has crews working to resolve the issue. Time estimates put power restoration between 3:45 and 4:25 PM MDT.
Again, NPPD is aware of these outages and have sent crews to diagnose and repair the problem. As this story is still developing, more updates will be provided as they’re made available to Chadrad Communications.
