The Chadron Chamber of Commerce is holding two ribbon-cutting ceremonies this afternoon, one with a national impact.
At 3:00, Big Bat’s will unveil two new ChargePoint DC fast chargers for EVs – electric vehicles.
One of the biggest complaints and concerns about the Biden Administration’s push for EVs is the relatively small number of fast charging locations across the country, especially in rural areas.
Big Bat’s has worked with Nebraska Public Power District on the project and NPPD Account Manager Melody Baily says the chargers will be “a great addition” to the Chadron area for both local residents and visitors.
Baily says they will “help ease range anxiety for electric vehicle (EV) owners living in or passing through the area, as well as provide more charging options for customers who are thinking about purchasing an EV.”
Officials from NPPD and the Northwest Rural Public Power District will join the Chadron Chamber of Commerce for the ribbon-cutting.
The public, including EV owners and all those interested in learning about EVs and charging stations, is also invited to attend.
While the Big Bat’s event celebrates a piece of cutting-edge technology, the other ribbon-cutting celebrates a different kind of cutting technology – Chadron’s first new barbershop in decades.
Barber and stylist Trace White opened his shop just north of the KCSR/KBPY Chadrad Communications offices and studios on Bordeaux Street this summer and is holding an Open House from 4-6:00 with the ribbon-cutting at 4:30.
White operates a little differently from old-school barbers in that he encourages customers to make appointments, although drop-ins are still welcome. His website for appointments is TWClips.booksy.com
Luckily the chargers can be retrofitted to NACS plug because CHAdeMO and CCS charging will continue to decline in popularity with most automakers adopting NACS already in the USA. CCS and CHAdeMO are already a small percentage of electric vehicles sold-and it matters Mary. Great to see more charging in Chadron and the 1st and only fast charging in the area. Odd layout and would be hard to charge with a trailer on if not impossible. Luckily plenty of space to unhook, charge, and hook back up. I don’t understand why fueling is billed by the minute in Nebraska and not by the KWH-very odd.
