The Chadron Cardinals Cross Country team competed at the C-5 district meet Thursday at Crandall Creek Golf Course in Ogallala. The Cardinals sent six runners to compete in both the boys and girls divisions.
The boys side of the meet saw none of the Cardinals finish in the top 15 to qualify for the state meet in Kearney. Braylon Branson ran an 18:45 to finish 29th, Henrick Rider finished 31st with an 18:49, Maxxton Stewart was 36th with a 19:25. Brayden Landreth ran a 21:06 to finish 56th, Tye Plooster was 58th with a 21:23 and Sam Kahl rounded out the Chadron runners with a 21:25 to finish 59th.
The girls race saw Jentsyn Fuller just miss out on a state berth by 13 seconds, running a 22:38 to finish 16th. Lillie Uhing ran a 23:05 to finish in 22nd, Sidney Schmidt ran a 24:01 to finish 34th, Ava Pyle finished in 38th with a 24:30. Brynn Buskirk ran a 24:54 to finish 45th and Adday Tewahade with a 25:30 to finish 47th rounded out the Cardinals effort.
