The weather could not have been more perfect on a Friday night at Cardinal Field as the Chadron Cardinals hosted the Mitchell Tigers for Homecoming. The Cardinals got up early and never looked back as they defeated Mitchell 51-6 to become 3-0 for the first time since 2021.

Mitchell got the ball first and the Tigers got a first down, the first by a team on their opening possession allowed by the Cardinals this season. A holding call and stop by the Cardinals forced a punt then the Quinn Bailey show arrived.

The first of four first half touchdowns scored by Bailey came off a beautifully place back shoulder fade route thrown by Tobin Landen got the Cardinals on the board and they never looked back.

Bailey punched in rushes from two and four yards to give the Cardinals a 24-0 lead before the Tigers scored their only points of the day off a halfback pass from Michael Plasencio to Xavier Galloway. That was it for the scoring for the Tigers.

An interception thrown by Landen and a three and out by the Tigers set up the play of the game. Landen dropped back to pass and looked at two different receivers before finding Bailey wide open on a crossing route and Bailey did the rest, going 71 yards for a touchdown. Chadron took a 30-6 lead into the halftime break.

A one yard touchdown run by Caden Buskirk, 44 yard Bailey rush and Lane Davidson seven yard run provided all the scoring Chadron needed to win 51-6.

The Cardinals will host 2-1 Gothenburg this upcoming Friday Night. Gothenburg started the season 2-0 before losing to Adams Central 10-7 back on Friday.

Pregame is set for 5:30 and kick at 6, and as always you can hear all of Chadron High football on 610am KCSR and chadrad.com
