- Congratulations to our success at the NSAA State Wrestling Tournament: Kenli Boeselager repeated as a back-to-back STATE CHAMPION, Quinn Bailey finished as STATE CHAMPION, Rhett Cullers finished with a 4th place medal and Fia Rasmussen medaled at 6th.
- Thank you to our FBLA, FCCLA and FFA for celebrating CTE Month by each hosting a week of fun activities to promote their clubs and organizations.
- Congratulations to members of the CHS Speech Team for multiple medals and first-place finishes at invites this season. The Speech Team is about to compete at Districts in Gothenburg while this report is being submitted. Good Luck at Districts!
- Thank you and congratulations to Wendy Rhoads and all the cast, crew and volunteers who supported the CHS Musical – Mamma Mia! We hosted three outstanding performances last weekend. Each performance was well attended including Sunday’s matinee performance was larger than in past years.
- Thank you to all our teachers, students, and parents for successfully finishing the 3rd Quarter!

- Hunter Huffman – District Spelling Bee Champion – Qualified for the regional spelling bee in Omaha!
- Emmerson Landreth – School Spelling Bee Champion.
- Kole Carnahan and Riah Fisher for serving as CMS Student Advocates for the 4th-grade FAST cycle.
- Thank you to Terri Haynes and the ESU organizers for this year’s Western Nebraska School Mental Health Conference.
- Mrs. Waugh’s 8th-grade reading classes for reading to primary school and Headstart students on Read Across America Day!
- NHD students awards and honors – All CPS students qualified for state!
- Matthew Sorenson, Jason Hy, Lillian Johndreau, Josie Werner, Vivian Golembieski, Sam Kahl, Tatiana Abdelgabar, Kaydon Wilhite Beall, Thomas Kaus (CHS)
- Mr. Horst for being selected to participate in “Computer Science For All” from UNL. It includes tuition for 2 summer classes in Computer Science, funding to attend a technology conference, and $1,500 worth of hardware and software for Chadron Public Schools. The primary goal of the program is to study how districts facing different contextual challenges, including rural schools, majority-minority schools, and Native American reservation schools, adapt the curriculum to fit local needs and strengths to broaden participation in computer science.
- Brooke Olson joined Kelsey Scott in attending a 7-week course that meets 2 Mondays a month, January-April entitled, “Providing Reading Intervention for Grade 4+”.
- To Terri Haynes for organizing and funding through the AWARE grant the March 8th Inservice on “Brain Breaks” to our district staff.
- Heather Barry has done the 4 pre-sessions with our FAST students and they have begun meeting at the Middle School.
- Christine Ambrose for organizing dress-up days and teachers for special activities to celebrate Read Across America.
- To the 4th grade teachers for organizing and putting on the Nebraska Food Tasting event, the Nebraska companies that provided samples, and to the parents for helping prepare and serve. A special thanks to our hometown Wilds for the pretzels and Runza for providing runzas and speaking to the students.
- Our F.A.S.T. program has started and we are excited to have so many families in our building prior to the start of their kindergarten year.
- Thank you to Terri Haynes and the ESU organizers for this year’s Western Nebraska School Mental Health Conference
- Thank you to the AWARE Grant and the efforts of Terri and Dana to get Joshua MacNeill as a speaker for our teacher in-service.
- High Five to our AWARE team and our onsite visit that included members from the Nebraska Department of Education as well as researchers from UNL.
- To Barb Waugh and her 8th-grade students for coming to read to our students for Read Across America Day!
