Chadron, Sioux County Just Miss Football Playoffs; Hay Springs, Gordon-Rushville In

   Chadron came up 2 spots short of qualifying for C1 football playoffs, which start this Friday.

The final playoff spot went to Columbus Scotus Central Catholic, which had a 40.0 Wild Card number with Sidney at 39.778 and Chadron at 39.667. 

      #3 McCook, who beat Chadron on Friday, and #14 Broken Bow were the 2 western most teams to make the C1 field and they open against each other.

       Hays Springs is the 10th seed in 6-man D6 and opens at #7 Cody-Kilgore, who they rallied to beat in Friday‚Äôs regular season finale.     

     Like Chadron, Sioux County missed the playoffs by 2 spots despite having the same 4-4 record as the final 2 seeds, Wilcox-Hildreth and Wallace. 

      In C2, Gordon-Rushville is the 8th seed and hosts #9 Battle Creek, Mitchell is #5 and home against Cedar Catholic, and #16 Valentine is at Hastings St Cecilia.

      3rd-seeded Scottsbluff was the only school west of Grand Island to make the Class B field Plattsmouth (4-5) at #3 Scottsbluff (8-1)
