The morning of August 22nd the Chadron Cardinals softball team woke up with anticipation of a new season beginning that night. That season ended on Monday as the Cardinals fell 14-12 to the Bayard Tigers in the opening round of the Class C-4 sub district tournament in Genoa.
The season started with a thrilling back and forth loss to Southern Valley/Alma. Two days later the Cardinals got their first win of the season and first of seven wins against Alliance during the season.
The season overall ended up being a back and forth one with never more than three straight losses and a season best five game winning streak.
The Cardinals finished the season at 13-15 and will see four seniors graduate from this year’s team. Jodean Chesley, Averielle Sager, Chloe Wright, and Sarah LeBere. But will return a lot of talent next year including three athletes that missed this year due to injury.
