Chadron Splits With Sidney

The Chadron Platte Valley Bank Post 12 American Legion baseball teams hit the diamond Tuesday night hosting Sidney for juniors and seniors action. The juniors won by a 7-4 score while the seniors dropped a 10-4 decision.

The juniors got on the board first with a Braden Wright single bringing in the first run of the game. The teams matched in the second inning scoring one run a piece. The third inning was the difference in the game with Chadron putting up a five spot to take full control of the game. Sidney was able to draw closer in the 4th and fifth innings to bring it back to three. In the top of the seventh Sidney had the tying run up to bat but was not able to produce as Chadron pulled off the 7-4 win, moving to an 8-3 record on the season.

Tobin Landen was the winning pitcher, getting the start and pitching six innings with four hits allowed, two earned runs and six strikeouts. Tayven Jenkins had two doubles and three runs driven in.

In the nightcap the Chadron seniors struck first, scoring two runs in the bottom of first off a Caden Buskirk RBI double. Sidney was able to knott it up in the top of the 2nd inning before Chadron took a 2-3 lead going into the third inning. 

The teams went scoreless in the third and forth innings before Sidney took control of the affair in the top of the fifth and did not look back. They scored two in the top of the fifth, four in the sixth before completing their 10 run game in the top of the seventh. Chadron was only able to get a run back in the sixth as they lost 10-4.

Chadron drops to 4-9 on the season.

Both juniors and seniors will be back in action tonight as they head to Gering, juniors first pitch is set for 5 with the seniors following at 7.
