The Chadron High boys and girls basketball teams played in a pair of roller coaster games on Saturday night as both came away with wins over Gering.
The Chadron girls built a lead as big as 15 in the first half only to watch Gering take a 39-38 lead in the 4th quarter before coming back for the 44-42 victory.
Demi Ferguson had a game high 16 points and Taverra Sayaloune scored 12. Mackenzie Todd had 15 to lead Gering.
It’s the Cardinals 2nd straight win after starting the season 0-2.
The Chadron boys started the game with a 14-0 run and led by 18 early in the 4th before turnovers allowed Gering trim the deficit down to six with under a minute to go but Chadron held on 68-64.
Broc Berry had a strong night with 21 points followed by 14 from Brady Daniels. Tyler Spotted Elk tossed in 13 and Gage Wild had 11. Uriah Ybarra had 33 for the Bulldogs.
Chadron is home next Saturday against Bridgeport.
