Fort Robinson State Park and Chadron State Park reduced some of their summer activities Monday and will keep the changes for the rest of the season, which ends Labor Day.
Two activities at Fort Robinson are already over. The last ceramics session was Friday and the final Post Playhouse performance was Sunday.
Fort Robinson Superintendent Deb Kennedy says some of the changes reflect the departure of seasonal staff while others are because weekday demand will drop with the opening of schools.
Kennedy says one of the most noticeable changes at Fort Robinson affects the restaurant.
Kennedy says the park’s trail rides are also being affected by the reductions, starting with all weekday rides beginning at the Long Ride Barn on Soldier Creek Road.
At Chadron State Park, the Trading Post, Shooting Range, and Swimming Pool are now open only Saturday and Sunday, 1-5:00 for the pool and 10:00-5:00 for both the Trading Post and Shooting Range. The park office will be open only on weekdays.
While most tourist activities will end on Labor Day at both Fort Robinson and Chadron State Park, the offices and campgrounds remain open throughout the year for vehicles with Nebraska Park Entry permits.
