Both Chadron State College basketball team will open their Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference schedules Thursday (Nov. 6) at home against South Dakota Mines.ย The womenโs game will tip off at 5 oโclock to open the action.
The CSC women are 1-5 in non-conference contests this season, but their 67-point scoring average is fourth so far among the RMAC teams.ย On the other side of the coin, the Lady Eagles have given up 80.3 points a game, the most among the 15 conference teams.ย Senior Shay Powers leads CSC while averaging 15.8 points and 7.2 rebounds.
The Chadron State men are 3-4 for the season after defeating Nebraska-Kearney 87-71 last Saturday.ย Guard Jalen Thomas is averaging 12.6 points to pace the Eagles in scoring, but eight different CSC men have been the high scorer or tied for that honor during the first seven games.
Neither of the South Dakota Mines teams had won a game this fall until Tuesday night when the Hardrockersโ men upset arch-rival Black Hills State 58-50 in Rapid City.ย Black Hills won the womenโs game 64-50.
Both Chadron State teams will play the Yellow Jackets in Spearfish on Saturday night.ย The Black Hills women are 4-4 after their victory Tuesday night while the men are 4-5 following their loss to the Hardrockers.ย ย
