After winning its last five home games and pushing both its season and conference records above the .500 level, the Chadron State College menโ€™s basketball team will play a pair of rugged opponents in the Denver area this weekend.

The Eagles, now 12-10 overall and 8-6 in the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference, will tangle with Metro State tonight (Thursday, Feb. 13)  and Colorado School of Mines Saturday afternoon.

The Metro Roadrunners are 16-6 for the season and 10-4 in the conference, but have lost four of their last six contests.  They are led by a pair of tall seniors, 6-foot-9 Brayden Carter and 6-9 Caleb McGill. Both are averaging about 15 points and around 8 rebounds.

The Mines Orediggers are the RMAC leaders. They are 19-3 overall and have lost just one conference game, 94-91 to Regis.ย  Their leading scorer is 6-4 Majok Deng, who poured in 42 points against the Eagles last year. He is averaging 16 points this season and gets lots of help from off the bench.

The Chadron State women will play the teams from the same two schools before the men take the court.  None of the three womenโ€™s teams has a winning record, but the Lady Eagles have been making progress as the season winds down.  They went into overtime against Colorado Christian last weekend before being nipped 99-98.  They also were tied with Colorado State-Pueblo, one of the RMACโ€™s top teams, entering the fourth quarter last Saturday before dropping the tilt 86-77.
