The Chadron State College football team will play its Homecoming game on Saturday (Oct. 19) against the Fort Lewis Skyhawks from Durango, Colo. Kickoff will be a 1 o’clock.
Both teams are hoping for a victory that will spark them the remainder of the season. The Eagles are 2-4 after losing a hard-fought 33-30 decision at New Mexico Highlands last Saturday, while Fort Lewis is 1-5.
The Skyhawks found some success this fall when they won their second game 17-12 over Arizona Christian to snap a 40-game losing streak that was the longest among college teams in the nation.
The Eagles’ offense has perked up the last two games with the return of quarterback DJ Ralph. He suffered a shoulder injury early in the season opener and was sidelined for all or most of the next 3 games. The last two weeks Ralph has completed 46 of 60 passes for 490 yards and six touchdowns while also running for 95 yards and two TDs.
Chadron State also played Fort Lewis in its Homecoming game a year ago and won 57-20. Since 1969, the Eagles have a 36-17-1 record at Homecoming, including an 18-5 mark this century.
